THE ORB – Abolition of the Royal Familia: Guillotine Remix
I pionieri dell’elettronica e della ambient-house music annunciano il loro ritorno con ‘Abolition of the Royal Familia: Guillotine Remix’. In arrivo il 9 aprile, ‘Abolition of the Royal Familia: Guillotine Remix’ contiene i remix di ‘Abolition of the Royal Familia’, l’acclamato album di The Orb pubblicato ad inizio 2020, a cura di nomi illustri nel panorama dance, acid house, techno ed electro mondiale, tra cui Youth, Moody Boys, David Harrow, Andy Falconer, Paul Metamono, Gaudi, i cui lavori hanno enfatizzato il DNA di The Orb. Oltre ad essi, anche la violinista Violeta Vicci. Pre-ordinando la versione in vinile si ottiene inoltre l’inedito bonus-track digitale ‘Off The Beaten Trax’ (Knee Splitter). The Orb si sono esibiti nel loro primo concerto online lo scorso 19 dicembre dal titolo ‘This Is Not Here’. Per l’occasione, hanno preparato una performance memorabile, arricchita dai visual di Holotronica, il cui progetto proietta immagini di realtà aumentata su un telo invisibile, creando animazioni fluttuanti vivide e fantastiche, dando all’esperienza del live streaming uno stile strabiliante. “The set will be 40 minutes ambient, 40 minutes weird reggae, and 40 minutes deep techno with weird transitions in between. We’ll be playing mainly the last 2 albums, and maybe a couple of old faves too. I’ve played thousands of gigs, but doing a live stream is back-to-school for me. We’ll be playing as live as possible. Expect happy accidents – definitely not mistakes!” afferma Alex Paterson.
Ho avuto la fortuna di seguire i The Orb anche dal vivo, il loro sound che affonda tipicamente negli anni ’80 è sempre affascinante. Questo remix si avvale di tante feat e il risultato è un vado di Pandora elettronico che passa da toni pop come in Daze a panorami sognanti quale Slave Til U die o il trend più clubbing di Hawk Kings. Una rivisitazione che riveste i suoni dei The Orb di una modernità che non stona per niente e arricchisce la trama, i tre generi succitati si intersecano in una serie di varianti per tutto lo scorrere dell’album e il risultato è un ottimo mix che risulta di piacevole compagnia all’ascolto, un sottofondo perfetto per farci passare le giornate tristi di questo periodo infausto.
