BLACK MAMA – Where The Wild Things Run
Si legge Black Mama ma si legge rock’n’roll, hard rock e blues, perchè il sound dei Black Mama, power trio veronese, parla così. Con “Where The Wild Things Run”, la band giunge al secondo album, dove si respira aria dei meravigliosi seventees. ‘It’s only rock’n’roll’ dicevano i Rolling Stones, parole giuste per recensire “Feelin’ Allright”, puro rock’n’roll con qualche influsso southern alla ZZ Top e “Where The Wild Thing Run”, la title track è hard rock con qualche rallentamento blues e vengono in mente altri gruppi storici come Cream e Free e ottimo è il lavoro alla chitarra di Nicolò Carozzi e emerge anche il basso di Paolo Stellini. A seguire c’è “Tell My Mama” altro brano che ci riporta all’hard rock anni settanta e nella mia mente sono passate sonorità care ai primi U.F.O. e ancora “Hands Full Of Nothing But The Blues”, titolo bellissimo e che spiega il sound del brano, forse uno dei migliori dell’album, per la sua intensità e per il suo sapere essere hard blues con un gran guitar work e per saper dare anche influenze psichedeliche, a volte, nel mezzo del brano sembra di ascoltare i Doors ma senza l’organo di Ray Manzarek. Riprende il sound più hard rock con “I Got a Woman”, hendrixiano e potente, con “Red Dressed Devil”, funkeggiante quanto basta e con la conclusiva “Icarus”, hard rock puro che chiude un gran bell’album. Quanto si fa musica con il cuore e con la passione il risultato è “Where The Wild Things Run”.
