Il disco di remix di “Barragàn”, il disco del 2014 firmato dai gemelli Amedeo e Simone Pace e da Kazu Makino finalmente disponibile anche in vinile dal 7 ottobre. Release in uscita per l’etichetta della band stessa, la ASA WA KURU, distribuzione Audioglobe.
Disponibile già in digitale e streaming esce il 7 Ottobre anche in Italia la versione in vinile del disco che contiene i remix di alcuni brani dell’avanguardia pop di “Barragàn” ad opera di: CHRIS BEAR (GRIZZLY BEAR), NOSAJ THING, DEERHOOF, CONNAN MOCKASIN, SLUMBERMAN (moniker di Alessandro Cortini), VAN RIVERS, GUS SEYFFERT
A due anni dall’uscita dell’ultimo lavoro in studio dei Blonde Redhead, “Barragàn”, arriva una collezione di remixes realizzati da diversi amici, fan e collaboratori del trio italo-nipponico residente a New York che con la sua carriera ormai più che ventennale rappresenta un vero e proprio culto oltre che una fonte di ispirazione per tantissime altre band più giovani e di grande successo in ambito rock/indie/alternative.
I Blonde Redhead sono partiti negli anni ’90 con un sound spigoloso e decisamente rock che con gli anni si è sempre evoluto passando dalla rabbia, al nervosismo, alla ricerca quasi noise, fino al pop sopraffino del recentemente celebrato “Misery Is A Butterfly” (piccolo gioiello indie-pop da cui centinaia di band si sono fatte influenzare negli ultimi 15 anni), fino a giungere alle sperimentazioni tra il pop, l’elettronica e l’avangarde di “Barragàn”, uscito sul finire del 2014.
Queste le parole di Kazu Makino che racconta l’esperienza di questo disco di remix, il suo concepimento e la copertina, disegnata dalla stessa cantante dei Blonde Redhead:
“The remix was a great opportunity to collaborate with artists you are fan of and to fantasize what it is like to play with them. They can take the song apart and give another result to the song. Some people take it back to its origin and some people go somewhere completely unexpected but they always bring them into their world. It is like putting on different dress on a doll.
For us, we are bound to loose objectivity after you wrote and recorded them so to hear and be surprised and moved by them is really the best part of remixes for me.
Many of the songs were done by non electronic artists and I think it gives eclectic and organic soundscape. To me each songs sound so different and random that reminded me of arty Brazilian record produced in 60/70s so for the cover I wanted to make something that is all over the place and colorful.
The video with Connan was his idea. His friends found the people to invest in it so I went to Point Dume Beach in Malibu to shoot it with Connan and directed by Lung Club. The Lung Club/ Joe and Simone are close friends of Connan and I found out that both of them and I have problems with lungs so they decided to start production company Lung Club! There were dolphins and whales and afghan dogs checking us out while we were making this video. It was a magical day.”
