Ciao Joshua, benvenuto su Tuttorock, ho recensito il tuo nuovo album “Here, Right Now” e l’ho trovato fantastico, come sono nate le canzoni che lo compongono?
Grazie mille, apprezzo molto i tuoi complimenti! Ero in Spagna e, viaggiando da solo, ho iniziato a scrivere questo album mentre ero lì.
“Here, Right Now”, dovremmo dare più importanza alle cose che accadono nel presente e non soffermarci sul passato o pensare troppo al futuro?
Mi piacerebbe vivere al meglio nel presente. Da quando ho scritto quella canzone ne sono stato più consapevole. Quindi penso che sia una buona cosa.
Come è nata l’idea di realizzare una meravigliosa cover di un pezzo molto importante per la storia della musica come Won’t Back Down di Tom Petty?
È stata una delle mie canzoni preferite per molti anni, quindi volevo vedere se potevo farla mia in un certo senso. Spero che alla gente piaccia.
Puoi dirmi qualcosa sulla tua formazione musicale e sugli artisti che ti hanno ispirato di più?
Non ho avuto una formazione musicale, sono andato alla scuola d’arte per dipingere e disegnare. Riguardo agli artisti che più mi hanno ispirato potrei dirti: Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Paul Simon, Neil Young, Van Morrison, Sam Cooke.
Molte delle tue canzoni possono essere ascoltate in alcune serie TV come Scrubs, Grey’s Anatomy, Bones e Dr. House. Quali sono le tue sensazioni quando guardi un episodio di queste serie e ascolti una tua canzone?
In realtà non guardo mai quelle serie.
Durante il tour europeo che inizierà all’inizio del 2020, farai concerti da solista o ti accompagnerà una band?
Sarò accompagnato da una band.
Sei stato in Italia alcune volte in passato, hai qualche bel ricordo del mio paese?
Adoro tanto l’Italia, proprio come tutti nel mondo. Sogno il vostro cibo e le persone adorabili che siete e non vedo l’ora di tornare a Roma dopo 7 o 8 anni.
Grazie mille per questa intervista, vuoi dire qualcosa ai lettori di Tuttorock e a coloro che verranno a vederti a Roma all’Auditorium Parco della Musica il 3 febbraio prossimo?
Sono molto entusiasta di essere stato invitato a tornare a Roma e farò del mio meglio per poterlo essere di nuovo in futuro, se lo desiderate.

Following the release of his new beautiful album “Here, Right Now”, I had the pleasure of interviewing the American songwriter Joshua Radin.
Hi Joshua, welcome to the webzine Tuttorock, I reviewed your new album “Here, Right Now” and I found it amazing, how did the songs on this album born?
Thank you so much, I really appreciate that! I was in Spain traveling by myself and i started writing this album while I was there.
“Here, Right Now”, should we give more importance to things that happen in the present and not dwell on the past or think too much about the future?
I know for myself that I would like to be better at living in the present. Ever since I wrote that song I have been more conscious of that. So I think that’s a good thing.
How did the idea to make a wonderful cover of a very important piece for the history of music like Won’t Back Down by Tom Petty come about?
It’s been one of my favorite songs for many years so I wanted to see if I could make it my own in a way. Hopefully people like it.
Can you tell me something about your musical education and about the artists who most inspired you?
I had no musical education. I went to art school for painting and drawing. I guess I’d say, Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Paul Simon, Neil Young, Van Morrison, Sam Cooke.
Many of your songs can be heard on some TV series like Scrubs, Grey’s Anatomy, Bones and Dr. House. What are your sensations when you watch an episode of these series and you hear your song?
I never watch them actually.
On the European tour that will start at the beginning of 2020 you will do solo concerts or will a band accompany you?
A band will be accompanying me.
You’ve been in Italy a few times, do you have any good memories of my country?
I love Italy so much, just like everyone in the world. I dream of the food and the lovely people and I can’t wait to return to Roma finally after 7 or 8 years.
